Evidence-Based Digital Workflows for Full-Arch Implant Rehabilitation

This lecture reviews the current evidence on digital workflows for full-arch implant-supported prostheses, focusing on the accuracy and clinical application of digital impressions.

Particular emphasis will be placed on intraoral scanning of edentulous arches, scan body design, interimplant distance, scanning strategies, and the influence of these factors on achieving a passive prosthetic fit.

Recent developments—including horizontal scan bodies, photogrammetry, and integrated digital technologies—will be discussed alongside their advantages and current limitations. The available scientific evidence comparing digital and conventional impression techniques will be critically analyzed, highlighting when digital workflows provide predictable outcomes and when conventional approaches remain the preferred option. Practical recommendations for selecting impression techniques according to implant distribution, prosthetic design, and clinical complexity will be presented.

The lecture aims to provide clinicians with an evidence-based framework for implementing digital full-arch workflows while understanding the factors that influence accuracy, efficiency, and long-term prosthetic success.
